The 34th edition of Sarala Award is to be organised today (26.10.2013) evening at Jayadev Bhawan here. Eminent writer Shri Achyutananda Pati will get the prestigious literary award for his book 'Cha'ru Chaitanya Paryanta'. Two other renowned personalities - Singer Shri Pranab Kishore Patnaik and Artist Shri Gokula Bihari Patnaik will also be honoured for their valuable contributions to the society and the state.

Shri Achyutananda Pati will receive a cash award of Rs.2.5 lakh along with a citation.

Singer Shri Pranab Kishore Patnaik and Artist Shri Gokula Bihari Patnaik will receive a cash award of Rs.51,000/- each along with citations.

Shri Shirsendu Mukhapaddhyaya, an eminent writer, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest of the function. Mr. Mukhapaddhyaya is widely known as a literary personality of India and is famous for his research-based books in Indian languages.

The annual Sarala Award instituted in the year 1979 by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust(IMPaCT). IMPaCT is the charitable wing of IMFA Group, the leading and the only fully integrated producer of ferro alloys in India. Sarala Award is recognised as the foremost literary award of our state. This award is one of the finest contributions of IMPaCT to glorify Odia literature. The Ekalabya Award also instituted by IMPaCT crowns promising sports talents of Odisha.
