The initiatives in this regard were overseen by our Founder Late Mrs Ila Panda and it is her guiding spirit that drives us today. Her leadership of Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), a philanthropic venture, resulted in many initiatives in education, healthcare and culture. Besides operating schools and a technical training institute, we also provide basic healthcare to the community in and around our various sites and generally work towards uplifting the under-privileged sections of society. The Sarala Award for Odia literature and Ekalabya Puraskar for encouring budding Odia sportspeople are the major initiatives.
It was instituted in 1980 with the objective of recognising outstanding literary work in Odia. With a purse of Rs 250,000 and a glittering array of past recipients it is today considered the premier recognition for an Odia writer.
It was instituted in 1993 to encourage budding Odia sportspeople and, like its literary counterpart, this award too is considered the ultimate recognition in the field of sports. It carries an award of Rs 150,000 and the past recipients have truly done the State & Country proud.
