The initiatives in this regard were overseen by our Founder Late Mrs Ila Panda and it is her guiding spirit that drives us today. Her leadership of Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), a philanthropic venture, resulted in many initiatives in education, healthcare, literature, culture, sports and social activities. Besides operating schools and a technical training institute, we also provide basic healthcare to the community in and around our various sites and generally work towards uplifting the under-privileged sections of society. The annual Sarala Puraskar for outstanding contribution to Odia literature and Ekalabya Puraskar for encouraging budding Odia sportspersons are the major initiatives.

Sarala Puraskar
It was instituted in 1980 with the objective of recognising outstanding literary work in Odia. With a purse of Rs. 5,00,000 and a glittering array of past recipients, it is today considered the premier recognition for an Odia writer. Besides this, since 2015 IMPaCT has instituted the ‘Ila Panda Sangeet Samman’ and ‘Ila Panda Chitrakala Samman’ to felicitate musicians and artists of Odisha, presently carrying a cash award of Rs. 1,50,000 and Citation for each of the winners.

Ekalabya Puraskar
It was instituted in 1993 to encourage budding Odia sportspersons and like its literary counterpart, this award too is considered the ultimate recognition in the field of sports. It carries an award of Rs. 500,000 for the Winner and Rs. 50,000 each for two sportspersons honoured with Citations. The recipients have truly done the State & Country proud.
