IMPaCT Announces 33rd Sarala Award

Dr. Hrusikesh Panda, noted writer in Odia will get the 33rd edition of prestigious Sarala Award for his novel 'Garva Karibara Katha' and overall literary achievements. The Sarala Award committee announced this in a meeting held here on Wednesday evening. He will receive a cash award of Rs.2.5lakh along with a citation.

Two more notable personalities of the State will be honoured for valuable contribution in their respective fields. They are noted Mardal Badak Sri Banamali Maharana and Social worker Sri Padma Charan Nayak. They would receive a cash award of Rs.51,000/- each along with citations. A special function will be held on 26th October, 2012 at Jayadev Bhawan to felicitate Dr. Panda along with other awardees. Mr Vishwanath Prashad Tewari, Vice President of Central Sahitya Academy, New Delhi has consented to be the Chief Guest of the Sarala Award function.

The annual Sarala Award instituted in the year 1979 by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust(IMPaCT). IMPaCT is the charitable wing of IMFA Group, the leading and the only fully integrated producer of ferro alloys in India. Sarala Award is recognised as the foremost literary award of our State. This award is one of the finest contributions of IMPaCT to glorify Odia literature. The Ekalabya Award also instituted by IMPaCT crowns promising sports talents of Odisha.
