Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), as part of its CSR drive, has signed an MoU with the State Government to set up an Industrial Training Centre (ITC) in Sukinda block. The MoU was signed by IMFA's Chief of Corporate Affairs Sanjeev Das and the Director of Technical Education and Training, which is the Government agency to extend technical support for implementation of skill-building training programmes in ITCs.

IMFA will set up a residential skill development institute where unskilled youth will be given necessary training and essential internships to equip them with suitable skills for industrial employment or setting up and running of small enterprises. The practical training will cover various trades like electrical, mechanical, mechanist, instrumentation, electronic and telecommunication, welder, fitter, diesel mechanic, refrigeration mechanic and air-conditioner mechanic.

Commenting on this occasion, chief of IMFA's CSR (Special Initiatives) Shaifalika Panda said, "A skill learnt is a future secured. Imparting skill development training is a means to empower the unskilled and unemployed population around the Sukinda locality with sustainable income generation options which will then secure the livelihood of their families. Our experience from running a successful ITC at Therubali (Rayagada district) has showed us how to make the unemployed get gainful employment and make them a part of mainstream society."
