IMFA's Nuasahi Mines gets OHSAS 18001 certification

IMFA Group, India's largest producer of ferro alloys, today announced that its Nuasahi Underground Chromite Mines in Keonjhar District of Odisha has obtained OHSAS 18001 certification. This signifies the implementation of a world class Occupational Health & Safety Management System which will enable it to control occupational health & safety hazards effectively and to eliminate / minimise associated risks to employees & stakeholders consistently.

IRQS, a leading certification agency based in Mumbai, conducted a rigorous audit in April 2006 following which it recommended the OHSAS 18001 certification for Nuasahi Underground Chromite Mines. IMFA Group's mining operations at Nuasahi and Sukinda are already certified for ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environment Management.

The Nuasahi Underground Chromite Mines is the second unit of IMFA Group to get OHSAS 18001 certification with the industrial complex at Choudwar, Odisha comprising of a 48 MVA ferro chrome furnace and 108 MW captive power plant having been certified in January 2006.
