Paramita Mahapatra appointed MD of UMSL

Utkal Manufacturing & Services Ltd (UMSL), a constituent of IMFA Group which is India's largest producer of ferro alloys, today announced that Ms Paramita Mahapatra has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Company for a period of 3 years with effect from 1st November 2005. She takes over from Mr C H Ray who has been appointed Chairman Emeritus of the Company for his outstanding contribution.

Ms Mahapatra is a Gold Medallist in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Utkal University and has been associated with IMFA Group for more than 18 years in various capacities. She has been involved with UMSL – which is the logistics wing of IMFA Group – since 2000 and has been instrumental in the Company's turnover increasing by a phenomenal 400% from Rs 5.81 crores to Rs 27 crores in 2004-05.

UMSL is presently putting up a 27 MVA furnace capable of producing 35,000 tonnes per annum of ferro chrome and has ambitious expansion plans which include further expansion of ferro alloys capacity & a foray into power generation.
