Ground breaking ceremony performed for expansion project

The Bhumi Puja or Ground breaking ceremony for Phase 1 of IMFA Group's ferro chrome expansion project at Choudwar, Odisha was performed yesterday by Mrs Ila & Dr Bansidhar Panda, Founder-Director and Founder-Chairman of the Group. A simple ceremony was performed by them in the presence of various dignitaries at the site earmarked for the expansion which was followed by lunch for more than 2000 people including all employees with their families.

The expansion programme announced earlier by IMFA group envisages a 24 MVA furnace to be commissioned in June 2005 while a further 72 MVA furnace capacity along with a 120 MW power plant will be put up later in stages. The expansion when complete will increase ferro chrome production capacity from the present 1,70,000 tonnes per annum to more than 3,00,000 tonnes per annum thus consolidating IMFA Group's position as India's premier ferro alloys producer.

Commenting on the occasion Mr Subhrakant Panda, Joint Managing Director, said: "This ceremony marks the formal initiation of the expansion project although substantial progress had already been made by way of finalising orders worth nearly Rs 15 crores leading up to today. We are overwhelmed by the tremendous goodwill and support we have received from various sections of society for which I express sincere gratitude on behalf of IMFA Group."
