46th foundation day for IMFA

The Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), celebrated its 46 foundation day by laying the foundation stone for the expansion fo its captive power plant at Choudwar today.

The foundation day functions coincide with the birthday of company's founder Chairman Dr Bansidhar Panda.

At a function held in Choudwar Energy Minister Surya Narayan Patro, laid the foundation stone of the 30 MW expansion power project which will use coal washery rejects as primary fuel besides capturing furnace gas which is presently being flared.

Dharmananda Behera the local MLA was present at the various functions organised to mark the day.

Subhrakant Panda MD of the company said that IMFA has committed investments of about Rs 750 crore over the next two years to expand ferro alloys capacity build IPP's and backward integrate into coal minning, which would give the company a further competitive edge.

He said that the company was awaiting clearance from the state government to embark upon a mega diversification into alumina-auminium which would entail an outlay fo more than Rs 8000 crore.

Awards were presented presented to employees, besides there were awards for sports and housekeeping also School children were felicitated with awards.

Mr Subhrakant Panda also announced that the scope of the "professor Ghanashyam Dash Scholarship for Higher Education" which was hitherto restricted to only the children of IMFA employees would now be extended. Strating from next year, two new scholarships will be added for which any meritorious student domiciled in Odisha would be eligible.
