Sarala Award Conferred on Dasarathi Das

The prestigious literary state level Sarala award-2007 was conferred on Dasarathi Das at an eventful function at Jayadev Bhawan here.

The 28th Sarala Award being presented to eminent litterateur Dasarathi Das by poet Ramakanta Rath at a function at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The prestigious annual literary award has been instituted by the Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust.

Instituted by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), a charitable trust of IMFA group, 28 years ago, the award is given annually to outstanding literary personalities.

 

The award was bestowed by the eminent writer and poet Ramakant Rath who was the chief guest of the award giving ceremony.

The customary address by the Governor was read by his Principal Secretary, Sanyal as Governor Thakur could not attend the ceremony owing to unavoidable reasons.

The citation recipients were Rasaraj Narayan Prasad Singh (lyricist), Niranjan Satapathy (artist), Balaram Das (educationist) and Dhirendra Nath Barik (poet and social worker).

The function was presided over by Dr Bansidhar Panda, founder president of IMPaCT.

The other dignitaries present were Rajkishore Mishra, secretary and Santanu Kumar Acharya, working president.
