IMFA focuses on welfare of staff and people

The Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited celebrated its 45th Foundation Day here with director of Vigilance, Mr Gopal Chandra Nanda and collector, Mr Deoranjan Kumar Singh addressing the gathering and emphasising the work culture and entrepreneurship qualities.

Mr Nanda lauded the efforts of IMFA and spoke about investments coming to the state before exhorting local entrepreneurs to take full advantage of this development. IMFA Managing Director, Mr Subhrakant Panda and UMSL Managing Director, Mrs Paramita Mahapatra were present on the occasion. Mr B D Sahoo, Senior Vice-President (Operations), delivered the keynote address and noted that it was the first Foundation Day of IMFA after it had merged with ICCL.

Mr Subhrakant Panda said IMFA planned to increase the capacity of ferro alloys from the present 2,35,000 tons per annum to 3,50,000 tons and expand its power generation activities in a big way.

IMFA is also looking at power generation as a stand alone business for which the company is in the process of setting up a 30 MW dual fuel power plant and 120 MW coal-based power plant. The 30 MW power plant is expected to be completed by March 2008.

He added that the company was taking up its corporate social responsibitity in a big way and it would do a lot for the development of local area. He sought the active cooperation of Choudwar people in this respect.

Cuttack collector, Mr D K Singh assured all support and cooperation to IMFA for its expansion plans and hoped that the company would take up peripheral development in the area.

Awards were presented to those employees who had served the company for 30, 25, 20, 15 and 10 years by the chief guest and guest of honour. Mrs Paramita Mahapatra received a memento presented by the employees on behalf of Dr Panda. To commemorate the occasion a science exhibition was organized with the active participation of local schools and colleges.

RAYAGADA FUNCTION
SNS adds from Rayagada: The IMFA celebrated its 45th Foundation Day with pomp and gaiety here with employees and their family members participating in the event. Mr M K B P Mahapatra, Vice President (Operations), presented a brief history of the IMFA factory and praised its founder Dr Bansidhar Panda.

In his brief speech, Mr Mahapatra reminded the employees that there was no alternative to hard work.

Mr L Ch Patro, the ADM of Rayagada, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said but for Dr Panda's vision the company would not have come up, using the raw material for the benefit of the state. IMFA has come across many hurdles and crossed them successfully and is still moving ahead. He advised all employees to work properly and devote their time to improve the company's production and raise the dignity of IMFA. He also praised the company for taking steps to improve health, education and sports in the area by organizing health camps and tournaments and distributing books and uniforms to the school children.

In his concluding speech, he exuded confidence that the company would earmark a good amount of its profit for the peripheral development. Various scholarships and awards were given to the meritorious students of various institutions. Several employees were also felicitated on the occasion.
