Guv Lauds IMFA for CSR

Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys (IMFA), a leading manufacturer
of ferro alloys, on Saturday celebrated its golden jubilee
here.
The foundation day coincides with the birthday of company’s
Founder-Chairman Bansidhar Panda.
At a function held at Jaydev Bhawan, the Founder-Chairman
said, much before terms like value addition and corporate
social responsibility (CSR) were included in the corporate
lexicon, IMFA founders began working in the field. “In
the past five decades, we have acquired significant competence
in mining and power generation which we are now looking to
leverage into standalone businesses. We are targeting a global
footprint starting with acquisition of coal concession in
Indonesia,” he added.
As the chief guest, Governor MC Bhandare lauded the IMFA management
for impressive periphery development and CSR activities.

Even as Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Chief Minister
Naveen Patnaik were scheduled to attend the jubilee celebration,
they could not do so for pressing engagements in Delhi and
health condition respectively.
The Governor felicitated the four recipients of the Professor
Ghanshyam Dash Scholarship for Higher Education for meritorious
students qualifying for processional courses like medical
and engineering degrees. Going further in its commitment to
society, IMFA has started extending scholarship to deserving
children of poor families other than IMFA employees.
Late Prof Ghanashyam Dash was a historian of international
repute who was associated with several educational institutions
after graduating from London University. He is father of Late
Ila Panda, Founder-Director of the IMFA Group.
Around 210 employees of the company were also felicitated
in the function for their dedicated service.
